Remove background
Cut the background out of a photo with AI that runs on your device. Nothing is uploaded.
Drop a photo here
Runs on your device with on-device AI. Your photos are never uploaded.
How it works
- Drop a JPG, PNG or WebP photo onto the page, or choose one from your device.
- The first time, the AI model downloads and is cached for next time. Then wait while it works.
- Compare before and after, choose a background, and download the PNG.
Questions
- Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
- No. The AI model runs in your browser, on your device. Your photo, its name and its pixels never leave your device and are never sent to a server.
- Why does it download a model the first time?
- The AI model is about 5 MB, and the engine that runs it about 14 MB. Both are downloaded once and cached in your browser, so later visits start straight away. The download contains none of your data.
- What do I get?
- A PNG with a transparent background by default. You can also put the subject on white or on a colour you pick. The PNG is named after your photo, with -no-bg added.
- How good are the cut-outs?
- Results are best on photos with one clear subject, such as a person, a product or a pet, against a plain background. Fine detail like hair, fur and glass can be rough, and busy backgrounds can confuse the model. Check the result before you use it.
- Is there a limit on photo size?
- Photos larger than 25 megapixels are processed at 25 megapixels, and we tell you when that happens. Very large photos may be slow on older phones.
